Adventure Vacations

Enjoy the mountain vistas and natural wonders of Banff National Park and the Rocky Mountains from the comfort of a luxury tour bus while learning more about the surroundings from a professionally trained guide, participate in a nature hike, explore the Banff town site trails by bicycle or on horseback, or take a mountain climbing lesson. Your adventure is limited only by your imagination.

History

In 1883 railroad workers discovered a hot spring at the base of Sulphur Mountain. It was here that Canada's first national park was declared in 1885. Banff has a rich history full of colourful characters. To learn more of Banff and national park history we invite you to visit our museums, participate in free interpretive services and theatre presentations available through Parks Canada, and walk the self-guided Historic Homes Tour.

Banff Culture

Theatre, festivals and galleries featuring local artisans provide you with interesting perspectives of the Canadian cultural mosaic. This mosaic blends the tradition of Western aboriginal tribes, early pioneering experiences, cowboy culture, and European influences.

Spring, Summer, Autumn at Charlton’s Cedar Court

During the summer season, Banff National Park offers a wealth of recreational possibilities…nature walks, river rafting, trail rides, escorted sightseeing trips of the Banff and Lake Louise area, or to the Columbia Icefields for a glacier tour, a gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain, a soak in the Upper Hot Springs, and of course, enjoying some of the most scenic areas in the world. Challenging golf courses are located within the townsite and surrounding area.

Winter

A winter sports enthusiast's dream, activities include downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, sleigh rides, and dog-sledding. Three challenging ski areas are located within the park, two of which regularly host World Cup events.
